Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
A. Circuit design and analysis:
1. Knowledge of analog and digital circuits
2. Use of tools like SPICE, OrCAD, Altium Designer, or KiCad
B. Embedded systems:
1. Programming microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, PIC, STM32, ARM)
2. Familiarity with C/C++, Python, or Assembly
C. Signal processing:
1. Understanding of filters, modulation, and DSP concepts
2. Tools: MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW
D. Control systems: PID controllers, feedback systems, and automation
principles
E. Communication systems: Knowledge of RF, wireless, and networking protocols
F. Power electronics: Understanding converters, inverters, and motor control
G. PCB design and fabrication: Layout design, component selection, EMI/EMC
considerations
H. Testing and measurement: Using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers,
and signal generators
I. VLSI/semiconductor fundamentals (for some roles): Understanding IC design
and FPGA implementation (e.g., Verilog, VHDL)
J. IoT and automation (modern requirement): Sensors, actuators, networking
(Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa), and cloud integration
