Scala Developer - Freelancer & Remote Work - Internship

We are looking for a **self-driven, hands-on Senior Scala Developer** with

strong experience in building scalable, high-performance microservices. The

ideal candidate is deeply proficient in Scala, comfortable owning services

end-to-end, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, distributed

environment.

Title: Sr Scala Developer

Location:100% remote work

Employment Type: Freelancer for 4 Months

Shift Timing: 2:00-11:30 PM IST

Key Responsibilities

* Refactor and enhance existing **Scala-based services** to improve maintainability and reduce complexity

* Work with existing codebases built using the **Play Framework**

* Implement changes independently and validate them through **comprehensive testing**

* Write and maintain **unit and integration tests** to ensure correctness and regression safety

* Collaborate with team members to understand existing logic and dependencies

* Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues arising from refactoring efforts

* Follow coding best practices and contribute to cleaner, more readable code

Required Skills & Qualifications

* Hands-on experience with **Scala 2.12 / 2.13**

* Strong experience using the **Play Framework**

* Working experience with **MongoDB**

* Experience with **Amazon DynamoDB**

* Solid understanding of refactoring techniques and legacy code improvement

* Experience with **unit testing and test-driven or test-first approaches**

* Ability to own changes end-to-end, from implementation through testing

* Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team

Nice to Have

* Exposure to microservices-based systems

* Familiarity with AWS services beyond DynamoDB

* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows
