Software Testing - Internship

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1\. Test Planning & Understanding

Review requirements, specifications, and design documents.

Understand business logic and expected functionality of assigned modules.

Clarify scope of work in limited hours.

2\. Test Case Design & Execution

Write clear, concise test cases or test scenarios.

Execute manual test cases within assigned timeframes.

Perform exploratory testing for quick defect discovery.

3\. Bug Reporting & Tracking

Log defects with detailed reproduction steps, screenshots, or logs.

Retest fixed issues and update status in bug-tracking tools (Jira, Trello,

Bugzilla, etc.).

Prioritize and communicate defects effectively with the dev team.

4\. Regression & Verification

Run regression tests to confirm new changes don't break existing features.

Verify bug fixes across environments (staging, QA, UAT).

5\. Collaboration & Communication

Participate in stand-ups or status calls (if scheduled within part-time

hours).

Coordinate with developers, full-time testers, and product owners.

Share progress updates, risks, and blockers.

6\. Documentation

Maintain test case repository and testing notes.

Provide concise reports of test coverage, execution, and defects.

7\. Specialized Testing (if applicable)

Depending on skills and project needs:

UI/UX Testing - Validate look-and-feel, responsiveness, and usability.

API Testing - Use tools like Postman to test endpoints.

Automation Support - Create/maintain automated test scripts (if skilled).

Performance Testing (basic) - Validate load and response time.

Expectations for Part-Time Testers:

1\. Work 10-20 hours/week, usually during specific test cycles.

2\. Focus on execution over planning, unless otherwise agreed.

3\. Provide flexible support during release sprints or bug-fix cycles.

4\. Be proactive in communication since overlap with full-time staff may be

limited.
