About the Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design & Development
Engineer Intern to join our Product Development team. This is an excellent
opportunity to work on real-world product design and development projects
while gaining hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, vendor
management, manufacturing processes, testing, and quality control.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our engineering team
to contribute to the complete product lifecycle from conceptual design through
manufacturing and quality validation. This internship will provide practical
exposure to industrial product development practices and the opportunity to
make meaningful contributions to our product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
Assist in creating 2D and 3D mechanical designs and engineering drawings using
CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
Develop conceptual designs and technical documentation for product components
and assemblies
Perform design analysis, calculations, and feasibility studies for mechanical
components
Create Bill of Materials (BOM) for manufactured parts and assemblies
Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback for design optimization
Document design specifications and maintain organized design records
Vendor Development & Supplier Management
Identify and evaluate potential vendors and suppliers for required components
and raw materials
Prepare technical specifications and drawings for supplier quotations
Coordinate with vendors to ensure technical requirements are met
Maintain vendor database and performance records
Participate in vendor communication and negotiation support
Assist in comparing supplier options based on quality, cost, and delivery
timelines
Manufacturing & Process Support
Assist in process planning and manufacturing setup for new products
Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings and work instructions
Support prototype fabrication and assembly activities
Participate in manufacturing floor visits and process observations
Identify manufacturing constraints and suggest design modifications for
improved manufacturability
Document manufacturing processes and procedures for quality and training
purposes
Testing & Validation
Plan and execute functional testing protocols for product prototypes
Operate test equipment and record accurate test data
Analyze test results and identify areas for product improvement
Prepare test reports with findings and recommendations
Troubleshoot issues identified during testing phases
Support validation of components against design specifications
Quality Control & Compliance
Support quality assurance activities and inspection procedures
Prepare quality control checklists and inspection documentation
Assist in identifying and resolving quality issues
Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
Document quality metrics and maintain quality records
Participate in root cause analysis for defects or non-conformancesSelected
