Volunteering - Internship
Project Equal Futures
For many of the children we work with, nothing is certain. Not their homes.
Not their schools. Not even their next meal. A flood can wipe out their
belongings. A drought can force their families to board trains across states
in search of work.
And wherever they go, school changes.
What doesn't change is the precarity that shapes their childhood. And in that
precarity, what they need most is an anchor. Something that doesn't move when
everything else does.
That anchor can be knowledge. It can be the ability to speak English with
confidence, to access information online, to understand gender and identity,
and to believe that they can take up space. It can be the presence of just one
adult who shows up consistently.
Project Equal Futures is an attempt to build that anchor.
In collaboration with Sampark NGO, we're building small, sustainable, skill-
focused learning spaces for children from migrant communities.
The classes will happen inside a community centre, sometimes in one room with
children from five different grades, all learning together. It's not a
classroom in the usual sense. But, hopefully, it can create a small change in
their lives.
You'll work across four core areas:
1\. Basic digital literacy
2\. Spoken English
3\. Confidence building & public speaking
4\. Gender sensitivity and respectful communication
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1\. Teach across four areas: Basic digital literacy, spoken English,
confidence building & public speaking, gender sensitivity, and respectful
communication
2\. Commitment: 2 instruction sessions + 1 revision/assessment session per
week. Classes will be held in the evening between 4 and 6 pm
3\. Design the course across the four core areas to be delivered to the
students.
4\. Conduct weekly and bi-monthly assessments
Kindly apply after carefully reading all the details about the role.
